The Nordic Paragliding Open was held in Vågå, Norway this year after being held outside the Nordic countries for years. 105 pilots participated and in the end 4 valid tasks were allowed during the week the competition lasted.
Winner of the Open Distance League in Norway in both 2007 and 2009, Tom Salamonsen, flies regularly in Vågå and has done more 100 km flights than any other pilot in Norway. In the Nordics he showed that he’s not only a very talented open distance pilot, but also knows his way in comps, and ended up 1st in the serial class flying his Niviuk Peak 23. Overall Tom ended up 9th which is also a great achievement considering the number of comp gliders present and the quite strong winds one had to struggle with on several of the tasks.
Congratulations to Tom with his success in the competition!
